Non-destructive testing

The DISPREV laboratory perform the mechanical characterization of timber works by means of the following techniques: visual grading, drilling resistance test, penetration test, ultrasonic velocity, measurement of the moisture content.

Carrying on these non-destructive tests is possible to classify the wooden elements into resistance categories, in order to model their behavior.

In addition, these techniques can also be used for the study of the wooden material used for the creation of works of art (or as their support), musical instruments, ornamental elements.
